Certified Counselor
Jo White

One of my major interests in regard to the Opportunity Scholars Program is career guidance. For many years I was a high school counselor. During that time it amazed me that high school students seemed to lack direction in deciding what they wanted to do after high school. It is interesting to me that many of you lack direction about what you want to do after college, as well. The time has passed when you could "fall into" a job or career field. It is now required that you take the initiative. I have a variety of services to aid you in making the career choice that is right for you. In addition to this service I offer tips for time management and study skills.

Sometimes personal problems intrude and make academic success difficult. I am here to listen, to help and to make referrals when necessary. The OSP staff tries to keep up with your progress by keeping good records and by maintaining personal contact with you. I hope that OSP is filling a need in your college life.

My personal interests are diverse - they include reading, bowling, doing things that require mental gymnastics, and volunteer work with religious and civic organizations.
