Student Orientation Advisement
and Registration
Student Orientation, Advisement and Registration (SOAR) is a vital part of the collegiate experience at USC Sumter. The program is designed to help you with the transition to college life whether you are a new student, returning student or simply new to USC Sumter.
SOAR sessions last a full day, beginning with check-in at 8:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 5:00 p.m.
SOAR sessions include:
- Meeting with an Academic Advisor and registering for classes
- Foreign Language Placement Test
- ”Starting Later” program for non-traditional students
- Informational session presented by the Office of Financial Aid, Scholarships & Veterans Affairs
- Tours of the USC Sumter campus and facilities
- “Survival Skills” to help you navigate the college world
Things to Remember:
- Please plan to be with us for the entire day!
- Lunch is provided for all participants
- Wear comfortable shoes and clothing
- Parking is available adjacent to the Nettles-Schwartz Center.
SOAR sessions for those beginning classes in Summer or Fall 2008 will be held on May 31, June 13, June 27, July 25, August 8, and August 15.
Students beginning classes in Spring 2009 should attend the December 16, 2008 SOAR session.
