The annual commencement ceremony at USC Sumter is for students graduating at the end of the Spring semester, and the previous Summer and Fall semesters, from any degree program offered on or through the Sumter campus.

To participate in the Sumter campus commencement ceremony during the Spring, the following is required.

1. The student must be a candidate for the current Spring semester or be a recipient for the previous Summer or Fall semesters.

2. Students who "project" graduation at the end of the current Spring semester are permitted to have their names listed in the Commencement program and to "walk" at the Commencement ceremony.

3. Sumter students who meet the following special criteria for the Summer Term FOLLOWING Sumter's annual commencement ceremony, will be permitted to "walk" at Sumter's Spring ceremony, but will not have their names listed in the program until the following year.
   1. These students must "Project" to graduate the following Summer Term.

   2. All needed Summer courses MUST be scheduled to be taken during the First Summer Term.

   3. The students must document that they will be involuntarily out of the state at the time of the scheduled Summer Commencement in Columbia.

Students actually or projecting graduating at the end of a Summer Term or Fall Semester will have their names listed in the Columbia program and may "walk" at Columbia's all-campuses commencement ceremony.

It is intended that this policy accommodate active duty military students. Students who are scheduled to take courses during the second summer session, or who are not involuntarily out of the state, are expected to participate in the Summer all-campuses ceremony in Columbia.
