Typically, all administrative buildings and offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and classroom buildings are open from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays.
Availability to faculty offices varies semester to semester. Times are posted on each individual office door. Also, the Anderson Library, computer labs, Student Union Building, and gymnasium have non-regular hours and weekend access. These areas also have a posting outside their exterior doors for exact times.
The offices are closed for eleven holidays during the calendar year with an extended break at the end of December, typically from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day. Notices are placed on the exterior doors of all buildings during any extended closure.
Building closures due to weather conditions will be announced over local radio stations.
Each employee is issued a key to his/her office, a key to the outside door of his/her office building, and, if needed, a key to the room in which his/her mailbox is located. Additional keys can be requested for access to other areas on campus. All key requests must have the approval of the appropriate Associate or Assistant Dean in writing. Key requests go to the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, who is responsible for logging all requests. When the key is ready, he will notify the requesting party and have that individual sign for each key. The keys are State property. Your signature indicates your legal and fiscal responsibility should you lose a ?key or fail to return a key issued to you.
It is the responsibility of each employee to properly secure all University keys issued to him/her. Lost or stolen keys must be reported immediately to the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Services.
As a matter of personal safety and property security, USC Sumter employees will not loan their keys to non-university employees (e.g., students or volunteers), except in cases of life threatening emergency.
Any event that takes place in a campus building during hours that the building is not otherwise open to the public, must have a USC Sumter employee present who has the appropriate keys to handle any emergency in that building.
Officers and advisors for Student Government, clubs, and organizations may be issued keys to their work areas (interior doors only with the approval of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs). At no time will an outside door key be issued to a student group.
