This document sets forth the policy of the University of South Carolina Sumter on the use of telephones, facsimile (FAX) machines, photocopy equipment, computers, and other communication devices provided to faculty and staff for the performance of their University responsibilities.
Telephones, facsimile machines, photocopy equipment, computers, and other communication devices located in any administrative or academic unit of the University are intended to be used solely for University-related business.
The use of University owned facsimile machines, photocopy equipment, computers, and other communication devices for personal purposes is strictly prohibited. It is the responsibility of an employee's supervisor to monitor and regulate the use of these University resources. Coin-operated copy machines are available in the Anderson Library, the USC Sumter Bookstore, and local businesses for any personal copy needs. A FAX machine is available in the ?USC Sumter Bookstore for personal use.
The personal use of telephones or other communication devices (e.g., e-mail) that will result in a charge to a University account is strictly prohibited. Personal telephone credit cards must be used for personal long distance calls made from University telephones. Pay telephones also are available on campus for this purpose.
Violations of this policy by faculty or staff may result in appropriate disciplinary actions and/or possible prosecution under South Carolina statutes.
