Students earn top ranking
Congratulations are in order for three students in Professor Hendrikus van Bulck’s class who recently participated in the international online Business Strategy Game (BSG). According to BSG's Greg Stappenbeck, 3418 teams participated from 230 colleges and universities worldwide. The students' names are Brett McLeod, Shannon Greene and Brittany Barwick. The students earned a Global Top 100 ranking for their company's BSG-Online performance during the week of October 29, 2007 through November 4, 2007. The ranking was based on the following performance criteria: Overall Game-To-Date Score: their overall score of 108.5 tied for the 19th best overall score performance of the week worldwide; stock price: their stock price of $241.81 was the 71st best stock price performance of the week worldwide.
The Business Strategy Game is an online exercise where class members are divided into teams and assigned the task of running an athletic footwear company in head-to-head competition against companies managed by other class members. Company operations parallel those of actual athletic footwear companies. Just as in the real-world, companies compete in a global market arena, selling branded and private-label athletic footwear in four geographic regions — Europe-Africa, North America, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. |

Big Wednesday 2007 Big Success!
The day started bright and early as golfers registered on the morning of the 14th Annual Big Wednesday Golf Tournament on November 14, 2007. With a possible 40 team capacity, 38 teams were sent onto the golf course to compete for their favorite rival team, Clemson or Carolina.
The men and women enjoyed a long, warm day on the green before heading over to the Nettles Gym at USC Sumter to meet their friends for the Tailgate Party and to find out who won. After eating delicious food catered by Outback, “Cocky” and “The Tiger” made their appearance for everyone. The USC cheerleaders were also present and danced for the audience. The tailgaters had fun watching the mascots’ antics and being able to take pictures with the mascots and cheerleaders.

“My favorite part was seeing the reaction of the kids when the mascots came in,” said Jon Shrack, USC Sumter student.
Before the night ended Jeff Ruth from Sunset Country announced the winners of the Golf Tournament. The winning team was Will Holmes, Grier Blackwelder and Ryan McLeod with a score of 60. They were playing for Carolina and were sponsored by Wachovia.
The night ended around 9:00 p.m. as the almost 500 very tired and excited tailgaters made their way home, many with door prizes and a select few as winners of the coveted raffle prizes.
