Reisenauer, Smith appointed to new endowed professorships

Two USC Sumter professors, Dr. Eric M. Reisenauer, associate professor of history, and Dr. Teresa L. Smith, assistant professor of management, along with Mr. Philip L. Edwards and the Williams-Brice-Edwards Charitable Trust, were recently honored at a reception in the campus’ Umpteenth Gallery. Before the reception the honorees were formally recognized in a brief ceremony acknowledging the establishment of two new USC Sumter endowed professorships.

Reisenauer was appointed to the Williams-Brice-Edwards Professorship of Humanities and Smith to the Julian T. Buxton Professor- ship of Business Administration, effective Aug. 16, 2005. Both appointments are for three-year terms and are renewable based on sufficient evidence of productive scholarship.

The new professorships are intended to allow the appointees more time for scholarly research through a somewhat reduced teaching load.

Reisenauer earned his Ph.D. degree in history from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois, and Smith received her doctoral degree in management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia. ¦
