Masters Program Offered at USC Sumter The University of South Carolina Upstate will hold an open house for anyone seeking a Masters Degree in Education, Thursday, October 26 at the Arts and Letters Building on the USC Sumter Campus from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Thanks to a collaboration between USC Columbia, USC Upstate and USC Sumter, students will now be able to earn their undergraduate and graduate degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Special Education for the Visually Impaired at USC Upstate at Sumter. The open house will highlight the Fast-track Masters Degree programs available via a combination of face-to-face courses and distance delivery. Information will be provided on admissions requirements, financial aid and program framework. USC Upstate Graduate Faculty will provide details and be available to answer questions.

Talent Show Great Success

The Association of African American Students (AAAS) held its Fourth Annual Talent Show Saturday, October 7 in the Nettles Auditorium at USC Sumter. The event grows larger and more exciting every year with participants of all ages competing in various talent formats. The two categories for the competition were adults 18 and over and youth 17 and under. The winners for the youth category were: Vocal, Tia Durant, Alice Drive Middle School; Dance, Jerry Evans, Lakewood High School; Other (includes instrumental, poetry and rap) Bradley Singleton, Alice Drive Middle School; Overall Winner, "6 Deep" (Darianne Daney, Darrell Daney, Kiera Walker, Keith Martin, Candice Chase and Antwane Canty), Manning High School.

The 18 and over winners were: Contemporary Vocal, Kiera Pembleton; Gospel Vocal, Alexandria Lassiter; Model, Jessica Green, Diana Hair and Kevin Barrett; Other, Carldrelle Cooper “Skee-B,” performed an original rap accompanied by his children; Overall, Christina Leon, soloist/vocalist.

The Fifth Annual Talent Show will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007.
