MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE CHARTER
The Marketing and Public Relations Committee (MPRC) serves as an advisory committee to the Dean of the University, the Assistant Dean for University Advancement, and the Director of Marketing and Public Relations on institutional marketing and public relations matters in general.
In a consultative capacity, the MPRC assists in the development of concepts, plans, strategies, programs, and activities that support, facilitate, and otherwise guide the marketing and public relations efforts for USC Sumter. The committee will assist in the development of a Marketing Plan for USC Sumter and, as necessary, recommend periodic updates and revisions to the plan. In a consultative capacity, the MPRC will advise the Director of Marketing and Public Relations regarding areas of emphasis for the annual advertising budget, assuming funding is available. Similarly, the MPRC will assist the Director of Marketing and Public Relations in an annual review and assessment of the effectiveness of the advertising efforts and expenditures for each completed fiscal year. The MPRC will serve as a creative resource group for ideas pertaining to public relations, marketing, and advertising. The MRPC will engage in regular communication and consultation with the Recruitment and Retention Committee on matters of mutual interest and concern.
As a Standing Institutional Committee, the sponsor of the Marketing and Public Relations Committee is the Dean of the University. The empowerment limits of the MPRC are to review and recommend to the appropriate administrators and other institutional committees and organizations, and to advise the Dean of the University.

Student (one; recommended by the Student Government Committee Chair to a one-year term)
Director of the Shaw AFB Program (ex officio)
Distance and Continuing Education Staff Member (one; recommended by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to a two-year term)
Marketing Expert (one employee with credentials and/or acknowledged expertise in marketing; appointed by the Dean of the University to a two-year term)
Student Life Staff Member (one; recommended by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs to a two-year term)
Director of Admissions Services (ex officio)
The committee will meet as necessary. All members will have voting privileges. Except for the ex officio Chair, the committee will elect officers annually from among its membership. Unanticipated vacancies on the committee will be filled as soon as reasonably possible upon recommendation by the responsible organization or individual, and will be for the duration of the unexpired term of the vacant position. With the exception of ex officio members, all members serve voluntarily and at the pleasure of the Dean of the University. The committee will publish minutes of meetings, to be distributed to all faculty, staff, and student organizations, and other members of the campus community as requested or needed.
This document supersedes all previous charters, in whole or in part, for the Marketing and Public Relations Committee and its predecessor, the Publications and Marketing Review Committee, including those dated March 10, 1995, July 31, 1996, July 22, 1997, April 20, 2001, and July 19, 2002.
