John Logue,

Professor of Biology

Biology

John was hired by Clemson University at Sumter in 1968 and was present during the transfer of the school's affiliation to the University of South Carolina in 1973. He is an active botanist, whose research interests include vascular plant taxonomy and ecology.

John enjoys teaching and has taught a wide variety of courses in the biological sciences including: general biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, comparative anatomy, invertebrate and vertebrate zoology, genetics, flora, and marine science. He also has been active in areas of faculty development relative to teaching and was facilitator of a long term project at USC Sumter which encouraged faculty members to write personal study guides and other materials for their classes. John often is called on for plant identifications and natural history talks/walks. He says that he continues to experience great joy from learning by contact with the natural environment.
