Assistant Professor
Biology
Jeff is an Assistant Professor of Biology at USC Sumter. He received his B.S from Allegheny College, where he double majored in biology and English. He received his Ph D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he specialized in aquatic ecology. The focus of his dissertation was on stream community ecology, specifically how do fish eating birds (such as herons and kingfishers) interact with fish predators (such as smallmouth bass) to structure stream communities.
While at Illinois, he was also involved with conservation related projects including assessing water quality and determining the population status of threatened and endangered fish species.
At USC Sumter, Jeff is teaching introductory biology courses, environmental biology, and upper level courses in ecology and evolution. He is continuing his research on freshwater aquatic ecosystems.
