FLORA Y. GADSON

Flora Y. Gadson, a native of Mayesville, graduated from Eastern High School in 1969. She attended Benedict College and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education, May 1973. Further studies were done at the University of South Carolina, Columbia where she completed 15 graduate hours in Student Personnel Services.

Flora was employed at USC Columbia, Office of the Registrar, May 1973 - September 1978. She was then transferred to the USC Shaw Campus until 1980. From the USC Shaw Campus, Flora was then transferred to the USC Sumter Campus in March 1980 and continue until present.

Flora's position is the Coordinator of Records and Registration where she serves as the chief records and registration officer in planning and administering registration and post registration activities. She directs the coordination between the offices involved in registration activities. She establishes procedures for processing forms/documents such as academic transcript; verification of enrollment or degree; production of the master schedule of classes; change of campus process; responsible for the production, maintenance, updates of associate degree evaluations, transfer credit summaries, temporary, official class rolls, and final grade sheets; process name and address changes; interprets policies and procedures pertaining to records and registration. Flora serves as the liaison with USC Columbia Registrar and CSD in coordination and implementation of new procedures, programs and/or systems. She also interprets policies and procedures for faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

As the chief officer, Flora manages and evaluates the office budget, equipment needs, personnel planning, train and supervise the office staff.
