SHARON CHAPMAN

Head Librarian
Academic Affairs

  • 1990 graduate of Galax High School located in Galax, VA, the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
  • 1994 graduate of Radford University with a BS in English.
  • I taught high school English for 5 years in Mt. Airy, NC, home of Andy Griffith, better known as Mayberry.
  • December 2001 graduate of USC Columbia with a Mater of Library and Information Science Degree. While going to school at USC, I worked in the Interlibrary Loan Department at Thomas Cooper Library and learned a great deal about academic libraries and decided that this was the perfect job for me.
  • I was hired as the library director at Shaw Air Force Base Library in August 2001. This was one of my most interesting and challenging jobs to date. I learned a great deal about chain of command and the importance of a paper trail.
  • December 2002: My life was changed forever when my daughter was born. I was a stay-at-home-mom for almost 18 months. I love my daughter very much but Elmo was starting to get on my nerves.
  • I came to work at the Anderson Library in September 2004 and I love it! Please take a minute to stop by the library and say “hello” and discover that all librarians are not little old ladies in comfortable shoes and reading glasses. The library staff works hard to keep current information available for your research needs. Don’t hesitate to let us know if there is something you would like us to add to the collection.
See you in the library. GO GAMECOCKS! Go Cocks!
