Dr. Bellanca received her Ph.D. from the University of Delaware in 1998. A specialist in British literature and nature writing, Dr. Bellanca has published a book entitled Daybooks of Discovery: Nature Diaries in Britain, 1770-1870 (University of Virginia Press, 2007). Among her other publications are articles on the journals of Gerard Manley Hopkins and George Eliot and the poetry of Alexander Pope and Anna Barbauld.
She is also the author of a book and article about the beginning of rural electric service in Pennsylvania.
In September 2007, Dr. Bellanca received the USC Sumter 2006-2007 Outstanding Scholarship Award.
